 ISO 45001 was created by the world’s certification bodies to remove the confusion and duplication around excellence in the management of Health & Safety.  The Standard has been developed to be compatible with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 to facilitate the integration of these key issues.  ISO 45001 requires a system to manage health and safety, control risk and continually improve performance.


The 2 day Internal OHSMS Auditor course is intended for all personnel who will be involved in auditing health and safety within the ISO 45001 framework, this course is delivered to meet the requirements of ISO 19011 and promote the integration of audit practice with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Objectives: at the end of the course, a participant will be able to;

  • Describe the purpose of an OHS management system
  • Explain the scope of OHS management system standards and, where applicable, other criteria
  • Describe the principles, processes and techniques used for the assessment of risk and the significance of these in OHS management systems
  • Interpret the requirements of OHS management systems standards in the context of an audit
  • Effectively plan, conduct and report an internal audit of an organisation’s management and operation in accordance with the requirements of relevant OHS audit criteria
  • Undertake audit follow-up activities including evaluating the effectiveness of corrective and preventative action

CQI IRCA 2068 PT251: OHSMS ISO 45001:2018 (Modular) Auditor Migration

A two day course for existing OHSAS 18001 Auditors/Lead Auditors

ISO 45001:2018 will replace OHSAS 18001 and current users of OHSAS 18001 will need to update their management systems according to the requirements of the new International health and safety standard within a three year transition period.

This course will provide an overview of the key changes between OHSAS BS 18001:2007 and the new ISO 45001:2018 Standard.

This will be supported by applying the new requirements to work related scenarios and allowing auditors to practice their skills.

This course will help you to;

  • Understand the structure of the new standard.
  • Identify the main differences between the requirements of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001
  • Prepare, conduct and develop the required skills for an ISO 45001:2018 audit.
  • Describe the new requirements in Annex SL relating to organisational context, leadership planning and support.

  • To appreciate the new structure of the clauses.
  • The generic management system framework.
  • Interpret new and revised terms and definitions.
  • The key concepts of ISO 45001
  • Recognise the key changes to requirements.
  • Practical tips on how to prepare for the changes.

  • Auditor Certification transition arrangements.
